In conjunction with this, my role as an Accredited Exercise Physiologist adds a distinctive dimension to our approach. Trained to empower individuals through a biopsychosocial approach, we focus on instilling the benefits of exercise for health and wellbeing, ensuring that our athletes not only excel in their chosen sports but also lead holistic and fulfilling lives.
Moreover, our commitment to personalized training goes beyond the barbell, as each athlete receives tailored accessory exercises designed to address specific training deficits. With a comprehensive understanding of fatigue management from both a coaching and biopsychosocial standpoint, we are dedicated to guiding individuals on a transformative journey, empowering them to thrive physically and mentally, and achieve their utmost potential in sport and life.
I began weights training when I was 17-years-old as a means to gain self-confidence and have had a passion for fitness, in particular strength training, ever since.
In 2012 I left my hometown of Narrabri in North-West NSW (officially 'Australia's Sportiest Town') to move to Newcastle, where my love of strength and fitness lead me to CrossFit and eventually to the sport of Weightlifting. In 2014 I reached out to a Sydney-based weightlifting coach, who offered to teach me about the lifts and how to coach the sport of Weightlifting.
Fast forward 9 years and I have been privileged to have coached Australia at Youth, Junior, Under 23 and Senior level, as well as being appointed as a member of the NSW Weightlifting Association High Performance Coaching Team for consecutive terms (2019-2022, 2022-2026).
During this time I have worked with many athletes from a range of different sports. With regards to weightlifting, some have gone on to win state and national championships in their respective age divisions and bodyweight categories, and some of them also went on to represent Australia at Pacific, Oceania, Commonwealth, and World Championship events.
During this time I decided to leave my career as an electrician behind and pursue my passion for health and fitness. In 2021 I graduated with a Bachelor of Exercise and Sport Science from the University of Newcastle.
My experience coaching athletes of a wide range of ages, athletic backgrounds, and concurrent acute and chronic health conditions taught me a great deal and allowed me to collaborate with and learn from various allied health professionals.
These experiences taught me to see that everyone requires exercise to improve or maintain function aimed in a specific direction - the only difference is where each individual sits on a continuum of experience, ability, and knowledge of how to get where they want to go. It was from this understanding that I decided to pursue my Masters in Clinical Exercise Physiology through Charles Sturt University.
